FatPlate Lite / Lite-Viz
What does FatPlate Lite do?
FatPlate Lite encourages you to bring your strike-point closer to the ball, giving you that crucial ‘ball then turf’ descending strike.
The low profile & cut-out strike-zone allows you to hit the purest shots with long irons & wedges. Ideal for practice at the range & even better for practising on natural grass, where FatPlate Lite also gives instant path, length & depth feedback of your divots.
The 2018 FatPlate Lite range now comes in four fantastic colours. Fairway Green has a grass effect surface pattern and has been designed to be sympathetic to its environment. The additional white keyline around the strike-zone draws focus and gives just enough for you to bring your strike-point closer to the ball.
Lite-Viz: this range was developed together with tour pros who wanted a little extra visual encouragement in order to get ‘into the back of the ball’. The gradient on the FatPlate Lite-Viz models is designed to draw the eye toward the strike-zone. What’s your flavour?
Who is FatPlate Lite for?
Everyone! FatPlate Lite is used by tour pros, teaching pros and recreational golfers of all abilities.
Widely used as by touring professional’s in their pre-tournament routines. The sturdy, toughened polycarbonate on FatPlate Lite gives fantastic auditory feedback when struck, also making it an ideal practice tool for every golfer.
As FatPlate & FatPlate Lite provide exactly the same action in encouraging the low point of the swing arc to be after the ball, the FatPlate model that is most right for you is not dependant on your ability but rather upon your personal practice routine and personal preference). Do you need StrikeStrips?
In addition to the auditory response given by the new FatPlate Lite, if the low point of your swing is behind the ball, StrikeStrips™ give precise visual feedback of both path & strike point. But remember, you're not supposed to mark them. Keep it clean!
*Due to local Customs, rolls of 250 StrikeStrips currently only ship within the UK. Non-UK customers please purchase StrikeStrip packs (of 100). Please see FAQs for further information.

What The Pro's Say
The FatPlate is a great device to address the single biggest issue that all amateur golfers face: poor ground contact. As an instructor, I love the way it provides instant feedback. I’m seeing my pupils improve their ground contact quicker than ever - sometimes within 2 or 3 swings.
PGA Professional & Author of The Practice Manual - The Ultimate Guide for Golfers
FatPlate (Lite) has been an invaluable tool for working on ‘strike’ in both my teaching and personal practice.
European Tour Professional & Coach
Very rarely, if ever, do I work with a student who couldn’t benefit by improving their strike. For any golfer to improve feedback is essential, FatPlate allows both myself and the student to instantly asses how the club was delivered to the ball after each shot.

People have asked me how does an NFL quarterback learn to take PGA tour-like divots and I simply respond “The FatPlate” The easiest, most realistic golf-aid on the market!

Tip: When using FatPlate Lite for the first time high handicap golfers / inconsistent ball strikers in particular should learn & understand their swing/strike pattern by striking the ball from the number 1 (most forward ball position) with a wedge. Once a strike pattern has been established & skill level increased, the ball can then be placed further back (on numbers 2 & 3) as a progression of difficulty.
Frequently Asked Questions
In my experience training aids like this cause the player to raise their swing arc & thin the ball?
We agree that golfers can often react in the wrong way when facing the unknown & initially not work with the training aid instinctively e.g. when plaeced with an obstacle to miss the mind can often auotmatically instruct the arms to ‘pull-up’.
The first thing to realise is that the sole of the club HAS to hit the turf. Without a ball, try to ensure that you make contact with the ground and miss the plate. When you are comfortable & consistent at brushing the ground (anywhere in front of the polycarbonate) then introduce a ball on the furthest forward ball position (number 1) and try to repeat you swing (we suggest that you initially use a wedge. As your skill & consistency level increases you can then use the numbers 2 & 3 ball postion as a progression of difficulty.
I tend to make really deep divots, which FatPlate will help me stop digging down so far?
Whilst both FatPlate & FatPlate Lite help to bring the swing’s low point farther forward, the FatPlate model is more suitable for you as a key benefit of FatPlate is that it also allows players to work on arc height without necessitating a steep angle of attack (the cause of your deep divots).
I cannot use any club on number 3 on ball position as it (the club) sits lower than the plate making me hit the plate on way back and spoiling the swing.
Ball position 3 can be somewhat of a challenge for recreational golfers but has been designed to be able to be missed on your takeaway. The purpose of position 3 is precisely to ensure that we steepen the angle of attack in order to miss the FatPlate by creating sufficient positive shaft lean at impact.
The set up and start to the swing will depend on the type of wedge being used: a narrower soled wedge may sit behind the ball lower than another wider soled wedge so the first move may be to lift the club before starting the backswing. With these wider soles, the club may also be required to be hovered at setup, something that is good practice when actually playing off grass as it prevents the club snagging on the turf and disrupting a smooth takeaway.
Can I use FatPlate (Lite) in all weather conditions?
Yes. But when not in use FatPlate Lite must be stored indoors in order to provide normal device function & effective application.
As I’d probably hit the first 100 shots fat with the FatPlate (Lite), how will my clubs fare bouncing off of the body (assume plastic)?
Should you hit the body of the FatPlate Lite your club will simply bounce through to impact without causing damage to the club nor FatPlate.
What sort of guarantee is there for the plate?
We are only able to offer the standard guarantee that statutory rights offers consumers as we simply cannot test based upon all climatic & storage situations and swing speed & path variables.
Can the StrikeStrips be used on the non-astroturf plate (FatPlate Lite)?
Whilst offering fantastic strike-point & path feedback on BOTH FatPlate & FP Lite, StrikeStrips™ give the most precise visual feedback when used in conjunction with FatPlate. StrikeStrips are not designed for use with the FatPlate Lite Pro.
StrikeStrip Removal - Atmospheric conditions
StrikeStrips are produced on an ‘easy-peel’ paper but easy removal is dependent on time left in position & local atmospheric conditions. Tip: If it doesn’t remove without leaving residue, simply apply warm soapy water or spray with household furniture polish & leave for a few minutes.
Do the StrikeStrips have to be replaced?
Yes but StrikeStrips™ are easy-peel so are just removed from the FatPlate when they become fully marked. They are available from our website – www.fatplate.golf – in rolls of 250 or packs or 100 but as your ‘ball then turf’ skill level increases, you should mark the StrikeStrips™ less frequently.
